‘Wicked’
One of Decider’s best films of 2024 is finally streaming, just in time for you to put on that witch hat and boogey on down to the Ozdust Ballroom…in the comfort of your own home. Wicked adapts the first act of Stephen Schwartz’s iconic and beloved Broadway musical. Cynthia Erivo stars as Elphaba, known to Wizard of Oz fans as “The Wicked Witch of the West.” However, Wicked reclaims her story, positioning the green-skinned sorceress as the victim of a smear campaign and a rebellious heroine. The film also details how she and Galinda (Ariana Grande-Butera) went from enemies to besties to reluctant rivals in Oz. Wicked is an enchanting masterpiece destined to win over even the most cynical hearts with its humor, humanity, and incredibly musical numbers. Oh, and Jonathan Bailey’s Prince Fiyero is as charming as they come. Watch Wicked tonight and tomorrow and over and over again.
