“The Traitors”, the documentary about the war in Ukraine at the Assembly of Albania
Documentary “The Eavesdropped” by Oksana Karpovych, part of the International Human Rights Film Festival, was shown in Tirana at the Assembly of Albania.
Present at the screening of the documentary, which provides a touching and shocking overview of the moral and legal implications of the war in Ukraine, were the Albanian speaker, Elisa Spiropali, the Ukrainian ambassador, Volodymyr Shkurov, and the EU ambassador in Tirana, Silvio Gonzato.
The International Human Rights Film Festival is an event supported by the European Union.
Highlighting the human aspects of Russia’s war against Ukraine, the documentary “The Eavesdropped” by Oksana Karpovych reminds us of the need for accountability, justice, and respect for human dignity.
Gonzato thanked Spiropali for opening the Assembly to the event, adding that the perspectives offered by films like “The Eavesdropped” show how misinformation and manipulation affect people’s perception of conflicts, strip their victims of human values, and lead to atrocities.
“At the same time, the film showed us that there can be compassion and respect even in situations like the conflict in Ukraine. Art can be a powerful ally in promoting universal values,” Gonzato said. (September 23)
