‘The Studio’ Episode 2, “The Oner”

What to Watch

March 30, 2025

Longtime pals and creative partners Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg bring Apple TV+ its newest hit: The Studio. The stellar showbiz satire stars Rogen (also writer/director/EP) as Matt Remick, the newly promoted head of Continental Studios. Ever since Matt toured the studio as a kid, film has been his life. He’s dreamed of a day when he finally had the power and resources to create great films at his fingertips, but when that day finally arrived, it came with the crushing realization that his love of “artsy-fartsy filmmaking bullshit” should come second to “making the studio as much money as possible.” With help from his colleagues — Sal Saperstein (Ike Barinholtz), Quinn (Chase Sui Wonders), Maya (Kathryn Hahn), and Patty (Catherine O’Hara) — Remick chaotically attempts to prove, as he told Variety, that “prestige films and box-office hits are not mutually exclusive.” Each episode offers a hilarious, creative, sharply written, star-studded look into the industry, but Decider has dubbed Episode 2, “The Oner,” must-watch 2025 TV. The installment focuses on shooting the epic closing shot of a Sarah Polley filmmstarring the talented Greta Lee. But The Studio raises the stakes — both creatively and technically — by shooting the episode about a oner in one marvelously mind-blowing take. In doing so, The Studio joins Daredevil: Born Again and Adolescence in crafting compelling oners in March. You can read our full recap of the episode here.
