Netflix’s new Indian import The Royals is an effervescently light and incredibly frothy rom-com worth checking out for Ishaan Khatter alone. Most American Netflix fans probably first encountered the international hottie as Eve Hewson’s love interest in last fall’s addictive series The Perfect Couple. However, The Royals uses the Indian megastar’s charm to full effect. Khatter plays Aviraaj Singh, a playboy prince who feels sparks for a spunky mysterious woman while on vacation. Sophia (Bhumi Pednekar) is a self-made startup queen, unimpressed with Aviraaj’s smug VIP ways. The two have a failed flirtation and that should be that. However, Sophia is looking to corner the luxury B&B market by yoking a real royal family into her project. When Aviraaj is named maharaja of his family’s flailing estates, he finds himself needing to partner up with Sophia. The Royals is silly, funny, and most of all, horny. A must watch for romance fans and Ishaan Katter devotees.
