The Mummy is a wild, fun ride. The 1999 action-adventure film is the perfect watch for a night in, the kind of comforting hero tale that you know will wrap up with a nice clean resolution before the credits role. Brendan Fraser stars as Rick O’Connell, a treasure hunter who finds much more than he bargained for on a trip to Hamunaptra. There, he’s joined by librarian Evelyn Carnahan (Rachel Weisz) and other treasure hunters who are unlucky enough to awaken the ancient leader Imhotep and face his wrath. While there have been plenty of Mummy films over the years, the Fraser version has stood out as a favorite for its elements of romance, adventure and the charm of some very late ’90s CGI.
