Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told Sky Sports that he thinks Liverpool will beat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool head into Sunday’s clash sitting top of the Premier League table, and haven’t even dropped a point in the Premier League this season.
The Reds have now put together a winning run of 17 wins in a row, stretching back to last season, and one more win will match the Premier League record of 18.
Conversely, United are in dismal form this season, as they lost 1-0 at Newcastle United last time out and sit 12th in the Premier League table under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Few are giving United a real shot at winning the game, but Liverpool’s record at Old Trafford isn’t exactly stellar, drawing the most recent clash 0-0 in February.
United haven’t lost a home game to Liverpool since the 3-0 defeat under David Moyes in 2014, and have lost just twice to Liverpool in their last 12 meetings in all competitions.
Still, Liverpool legend and Rangers boss Gerrard has confidently predicted that Liverpool will win this game, having been asked about the game in his press conference today.
Gerrard cited how great Liverpool’s attack and defence is, and that they’re European champions, believing you don’t need many more reasons to back the Reds against their bitter rivals.
“Yes,” said Gerrard when asked if this is the perfect time for Liverpool to face United, adding ‘Liverpool win’ when pressed about what the outcome will be.
“Liverpool have played eight and won eight. The front three are in fantastic form, they’re not conceding many goals, they’re European champions. Do you want any more reasons why Liverpool are going to beat Manchester United? Did you think I was going to say anything different?” he added.
