Robert De Niro Gets Censored On ‘The View’ For Cursing — But This Time It Wasn’t Because Of Trump

What to Watch

Robert De Niro‘s potty mouth made its way back to The View this morning.

There to promote his new crime drama The Alto Knights, De Niro explained how he got his dogs Lily and Antsy cast in the Barry Levinson-directed flick. According to the legendary actor, he and his girlfriend Tiffany Chen had the idea to involve their pups in the project for a scene in which his character is walking his dogs in Central Park.

“My girlfriend was doing a little makeup test and Jason Sosnoff, one of the producers, was talking about the dog walking scenes and casting the dog,” De Niro told the co-hosts. “So my girlfriend said to me, ‘Well, how about our dogs?’ She showed the pictures and Barry liked them. I think I even brought the dogs to meet him.”

De Niro joked, “I said one thing [to the dogs], ‘If you do this, you better not fuck it up. Only speak when you’re spoken to.’”

The View’s producers were quick to censor his use of the swear word, which is no surprise given De Niro’s history of cursing on the daytime talk show.

The last time he appeared on The View, his audio was cut out four different times as he ranted about President Donald Trump.

“[Trump supporters] might think that it’s gonna make their life better or they just want to — excuse my French,” he said, giving fair warning to the sound crew, who proceeded to censor him for three seconds.

Joy Behar then listed some of the things Trump has allegedly done over the years, like “trash” the military and “make fun” of people with physical challenges.

“He’s done everything. What more do you need? It’s almost like he wants to do the worst that he could possibly do to show this country —” De Niro said as his audio was muted for another two seconds. The sound continued to go in and out as De Niro aired his grievances with Trump — and when it returned for good, the audience was cheering him on.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
