Rugby fans at the Hong Kong Sevens were left hungry and frustrated on Sunday as Kai Tak Stadium faced a food shortage despite the tourism chief’s call to improve supply the night before.

Throughout the day, venue operators received complaints from attendees about long queues and a lack of food.

While touring around the stadium again on Sunday, the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui said she told the sports park’s management to increase food supply the previous day.

“I queued for a while to buy a hamburger last night, and I raised the issue with Kai Tak that it had to increase food supply,” she said. “The situation improved today after the management increased manpower.”

A Post reporter surveyed the second floor of the stadium at around 6.20pm, only to learn from staff belonging to five food stands, including the popular 100-metre-long (328-feet-long) bar The Champion, that they had run out of supply.
