‘Remember the Daze’

What to Watch

Remember the Daze is one of those forgotten teen movies you caught once on cable during a buzzy summer only to never see it again – until now. This 2007 comedy, which is more so an homage to Dazed and Confused instead of a remake, focuses on a group of seniors enjoying their last day of high school in 1999. The cast is led by all of the powerful women you grew up watching and still want to see more of – Amber Heard stars as a messy beauty who’s grown frustrated with her unambitious boyfriend; Leighton Meester stars as a teen babysitter who goes on the trip of a lifetime when she and her best friend take shrooms while babysitting; Melonie Diaz’s character is trying to hide that she’s secretly dating her best friend; Brie Larson plays a high-strung and arrogant eighth grader, and the list goes on and on. Their disparate storylines, taking place in the hours after the very last day in high school, converge at the big party at the football field, where it all comes to a head. This is no Lady Bird or Almost Famous; Remember the Daze currently has a 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes. But I love it anyways.
