Queensland Police say they are aware of a video circulating on social media that appears to show tennis player Bernard Tomic being attacked on the Gold Coast.

A spokesperson said police were unable to investigate because a formal complaint had not been made.

The video was filmed outside a tattoo parlour in Surfers Paradise but it is not clear when it was filmed.

“No one has been able to get confirmation on when it’s happened,” the police spokesperson said.

The 16-second clip shows two men standing over another man, believed to be Tomic wearing a grey tracksuit, and attempting to kick and stomp on him while yelling abuse at him.

Tomic is currently in Istanbul playing on the Challenger Tour, where he lost to Nick Hardt of the Domincan Republic, in the second round on Thursday.

The ABC has contacted Tennis Australia for comment.
