‘Prime Target’

Despite being a certified math hater, I love Prime Target, Apple TV+’s newest thriller about a young mathematician embroiled in a global conspiracy because of his prime number theorem. Yes, Prime Target is a drama largely about math, but luckily, the viewer doesn’t need to know much about math to follow the show; it doesn’t even try to make viewers understand the math because main character Edward’s (Leo Woodall) brain processes the numbers too quickly. All you really need to know is this: Edward’s work in devising a theorem about prime numbers would allow him to access every computer in the world, and global intelligence agencies simply can’t have that happen. Fighting for his work and his life, Ed has to team up with the rogue agent tasked with surveilling him (Quintessa Swindell). As of today, three episodes are available to stream, and if you love thrillers, this is one you need to be streaming. It has a little bit of everything; it’s part A Beautiful Mind, part Good Will Hunting, part 70s paranoid thriller, and it even has some romance thrown in.
