OPINION: The Department of Education Just Said What in an Official Email to All Student Loan Holders?
What do you call unsolicited political proselytization sent to the inbox of every single college student with a loan, no matter where they live or what political party they ascribe to? A good term would be harassment and it should be illegal.

It is reported that the Department of Education, an official branch of our government that represents all citizens, just used its email list as Biden’s own personal campaign trail.
Students report receiving a lengthy email that lets them know that the big, bad Republicans are “siding with special interests and trying to block Americans from accessing all the benefits of the most affordable student loan repayment plan in history.” In other words, Republicans are attacking students everywhere, and Biden and the Democrats are fighting to save the day:

To be clear, it’s not a campaign email — it’s on official Department of Education letterhead and from an official email address pic.twitter.com/KCoLKBk1fE

The email’s subject header reads informationally and like an official statement: “The Recent Federal Court Decisions on The Saving on a Valuable Education Income-Driven Repayment Plan.”
The verbiage of the email, however, was scaremongering and accusational. Twice, Republicans were said to “side with special interests” and twice, they were accused of “blocking” students from aid. [emphasis added]

“While we disagree with the Republican elected officials’ efforts here to side with special interests and block borrowers from getting breathing room on their student loans, President Biden and our Administration will not stop fighting to make sure Americans have affordable access to the lifechanging opportunities a higher education can provide.”
The email comes only a day after the assassination attempt on presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. Trump was already expected to win in November, but the attempt on his life has only immortalized him further. The left’s desperate grab in the email is obvious.
The question raised is how this is deemed acceptable, or even legal. Mind you, these are the same people who won’t allow prayer in schools because it could possibly offend those who believe differently. Yet when it serves their agenda, they use an official government office to send out a harassing email to students on both sides of the political field.
What we have seen from the Democrats is an unashamed abuse of power in using branches of our government (like the DOJ, and now DOE) as their own political arm to serve their own interests. And Trump is the threat to democracy? This email is an invasion of students’ rights and privilege to go to school, and have a student loan without ascribing to a certain political party or being subject to their propaganda. It is shameful, disrespectful, and should be illegal.

Miguel Cardona, the Secretary of Education who signed this letter, has overstepped his boundaries and disrespected the students he claims to represent. He should not hold a position that makes decisions for our students. If this is what he does publicly to advance his political agenda, what else has he done to put the education of our students second and the interests of his party first?
