Paramount+’s new Tom Hardy show, MobLand, offers fans of the gangster drama something of an embarrassment of riches. The series is directed by Guy Ritchie, co-written by Jez Butterworth, and features Dame Helen Mirren in her second “Irish matriach in a Paramount+ action show” role. MobLand follows Tom Hardy’s Harry Da Souza, a very talented “fixer” for the Harrigan crime family in contemporary London. When the family’s ne’er do well grandson Eddie (Anson Boon) gets into some trouble out on the town, Harry is tasked with cleaning things up. The problem is Eddie’s actions might have inadvertently kicked off a violent gang war between the Harrigans and their rivals, the Stevensons. If you like fight scenes, shoot outs, and raves set to Prodigy bangers, you’ll love MobLand.
