“Sol Prendido” for Borderland Beat

Three banners with threats to National Guard commanders allegedly attributed to the criminal group “Los Chapitos” were placed early Sunday morning, November 19, 2023, at different points in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora.
One of the banners was placed at the Military Garrison in the Airport neighborhood, another on a bridge and one more in a park. All the messages read:
Lieutenant Colonel Adolfo Menoes Conde, lieutenants Norberto Soto Barrios, and Alfredo Sánchez Flores of the National Guard. This is the first warning. You need to fulfill the agreements made as we had agreed. This is why weekly payments have been made without fail. So, stop your bullshit or face the consequences.
Sincerely, Los Chapitos
The US Department of Justice has identified “Los Chapitos” as a criminal drug trafficking group led by the sons of Sinaloa Cartel leader Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera: Ivan Guzman Salazar, Alfredo Guzman Salazar, Joaquin Guzman Lopez and Ovidio Guzman Loera, the latter of whom was recently extradited to the United States.
