What to do when you score your first NRL try?
Daniel Suluka-Fifita scored his first try in the NRL today.
He tells ABC Sport he didn’t know what he was supposed to do.
“Honestly, I didn’t know what to do when I crossed the line. I poked my tongue out. I didn’t know what else to do.”

Addo-Carr praises the fans after making Parra debut against old club
There was plenty of focus on Josh Addo-Carr in the lead up to this game.
It was his first match for Parramatta. The opponent was the club that terminated his contract last season.
Addo-Carr had an early error that led to the Bulldogs’ first try, and then scored one himself in the second half.
He was met with cheers and boos all day.
As far as The Fox is concerned, he is fine with the reaction of the fans.
“It’s all love, it’s all love. They’re passionate, just like the Parramatta supporters,” he tells ABC Sport after being asked about the boos from Bulldog fans.

FULL-TIME: Canterbury Bulldogs 16 def. Parramatta Eels 8
The Canterbury Bulldogs have made it three in a row to start the season, with a gritty eight-point win over Parramatta.
The Eels could not be faulted for their effort, but struggled to finish off the Bulldogs who were out on their feet at the end of the game.

79′ Eels concede silly penalty which ends their chances
Oh that was horrid.
The Bulldogs kicked deep giving the Eels one set, and 90 metres to travel to send the game into golden point.
But Eels forward Kitione Kautoga, who has just returned from a HIA, steps into the line of a chaser and knocks him of his backside.
Clear penalty for the Bulldogs which they convert.
Game over.

75′ Eels on the attack but Brown throws an interception
Parramatta have a full set of six, within the Bulldogs’ 20 metres.
Zac Lomax was taken out of a contest by Jaeman Salmon.
Lomax has been excellent in this second half.
BUT THE EELS THROW AN INTERCEPT.
The Bulldogs survive again on the fifth play of the set.
Dylan Brown tried to throw a pass that was low percentage, and it went straight to a defender.
The Bulldogs are holding on.

71′ Errors piling up for both teams as full-time nears
It seems there is a new coach-killer each minute.
Missed tackles, passes hitting the deck and lacklustre kicking.
The Bulldogs just missed a big chance with a full set inside Parra’s 20m, but Sitili Tupouniua dropped a pass from dummy half that his him in the chest.

65′ Parra come up short again and again
The past 10 minutes of play has been all Parramatta, but the Eels have been unable to get their third try.
The Bulldogs look out on their feet, but they have been able to hold out from the Parra onslaught.
But the final pass, or kick, just has not been effective for the Eels.
A pair of errors releases the pressure valve for the Dogs, who maintain a 14-8 lead.

60′ Eels player Kitione Kautoga off for a HIA
Eels forward Kitione Kautoga is off for at least 15 minutes for a Head Injury Assessment.
Off the ball, he and Bulldog Josh Curran collided and Kautoga appeared to hit the back of his head on the ground.
He participates in a few more plays, before being called off by the independent doctor.

55′ Bulldogs lead by six as Eels start to believe
The intensity of this match has really picked up in the second half.
The tackles are harder. The commitment is unquestioned.
The Eels have the only try of the half so far, but they have let other opportunities slip by.
The Bulldogs are trying to play a measured, error-free game until the end, with a 14-8 lead.
47′ TRY: Addo-Carr scores for Parramatta against the Bulldogs
The Eels are in, and it is their new recruit Josh Addo-Carr, who has scored against the club that terminated his contract last year.

The Eels have started this half well, and after a couple of penalties against the Bulldogs, the Eels took full advantage.
After punching holes in the defensive line on the right, the Eels then moved to the left. Dylan Brown passed to fullback Isaiah Iongi, who then threw a brilliant cut-out pass to Addo-Carr.
The Fox dives and scores a good try.

44′ Jack Williams on report for a lifting tackle
Eels second-rower Jack Williams is on report for a lifting tackle on Canterbury’s Kurt Mann.
It was not your conventional lifting tackle. Williams had Mann around the waist and threw him like it was judo. Did Mann go past the horizontal? Marginally. I see why referee Wyatt Raymond called for a penalty.

Junior Paulo has passed his HIA and will return
I mentioned earlier that Junior Paulo was off for an interchange or a Head Injury Assessment.
ABC Sport sideline eye John Gibbs confirmed it was an HIA for Paulo, and he passed it.
He will return.

Hoping for the best as a neutral
Quite neutral in this game Michael so the best I can hope for is no serious injuries.
– KB
G’day KB.
In fairness, I think we hope for this in every game of footy — but I understand your sentiment.
Sometimes it is nice to just sit back and enjoy some footy on a Sunday arvo, without worrying about the result.
Add your favourite snack and an ice-cold drink (or a warm cuppa later in the season), and you have yourself a pretty nice afternoon.
HT: Canterbury Bulldogs 14 leading Parramatta Eels 4
It was a scrappy half of rugby league, but the Bulldogs deserve their 10-point lead.
The Eels’ defence on their goal line has not been inspiring.
It feels like the Bulldogs are in control at half-time.
37′ Bulldogs penalised for breaching the spirit of rugby league
I have not seen this before.
The Canterbury Bulldogs have been penalised while having the ball, running out of their own end.

As a Bulldogs player took a hit-up, referee Wyatt Raymond blew his whistle and awarded the Eels, on defence, a penalty.
He accused Bulldogs prop Josh Curran, who was standing essentially in the Eels defensive line, for yelling at a Parramatta player saying he was offside.
That action actually led to one Eels defender pulling out of an attempted tackle, presumably thinking the referee had called him out of the play. It may have been interchange Matt Doorey who fell for the ref impersonator.
Raymond was not having any of that from Curran.
“That’s not in the true spirit of the game,” Raymond said in his explanation.
34′ TRY: Blake Wilson soars and scores for the Dogs
Excellent attacking rugby league from the Canterbury Bulldogs, and they have a third try.

A knock-on from the Eels gave the Dogs a full set inside the Parra defensive 30.
They take three tackles, then shift to the right with a set play through the hands.
Winger Blake Wilson had work to do when he got the ball, but he sprinted down the touchline, dived through the air, and with his body over the line he was able to ground the footy in the corner.
27′ TRY: Bulldogs score their second try through Bronson Xerri
Following the penalty against Shaun Lane for a hip-drop, the Bulldogs have marched down the field and scored.
On the final play, the Bulldogs shifted the ball to their left and went through the hands.
The ball got to centre Bronson Xerri and put the foot down. The Eels defence was back-peddling the while time, and Xerri just barged his way over.
“That is another soft try against the Parramatta side.” — Luke Lewis
