It’s Time to Call the Bluff of These Woke Corporations, Here’s How to Make Them Pay

Breaking News Politics USA World

Yesterday, news broke that somewhere around 100 companies joined a private conference call to discuss how to combat red states that dare have reasonable regulations around voting. This is, of course, all stemming from the lies surrounding Georgia’s recent election reform law (see here and here for more details on that).

The companies involved included such mainstays as Coca-Cola, United Airlines, Wal-Mart, AMC Theaters, and Aflac. Apparently, this entire “conflab” was put together by Jeffrey Sonnefeld, a Yale professor. As per our usual arrangement, this garbage starts in our ivy league schools.

Let me explain how this works. These woke activists get the leaders of these companies on a call and basically let them know that if they don’t bend the knee that things will get worse for them. Donations and proclamations are then made while Republicans, who have long been the only thing standing in the gap for these big businesses, get spat on.

Per WBTV, Mitch McConnell’s recent critical comments got mentioned as well.

There was humor and mockery about that, said one participant, adding that another person on the call made a reference to “just give us your money and stay quiet.” Another said, “isn’t it ironic who’s talking about cancel culture?”

“It wasn’t a primary area of discussion,” another participant said of McConnell’s comments, “but certainly everyone is cognizant of it and aware of it. In no way was he an impetus for this talk of doing this meeting started before he spoke out.”

I guess these morons don’t know what cancel culture is because telling woke corporations that they can’t stomp on Republicans anymore is not cancel culture. Rather, it’s telling them to take a hike and go enjoy their new friends. Then they can see how that works out for them, wealth tax and all.

With all that said, It’s long past time for Republicans to call their bluff. As you can tell by the above comments, these people are laughing at us while we help keep them in business. There’s no more direct example of this than the many tax breaks and subsidies these companies (and sports teams) enjoy at the behest of red-state taxpayers. Further, it was Republicans who fought to lower the corporate tax rate, giving these companies a boon of savings over the last several years.

Here’s what I propose. If these companies are going to mock and spit on Republicans who have had their back against left-wing incursions, then it’s time to stop having their back. How often do we see some head of a giant corporation saying they’d be glad to pay more in taxes to the squees of the mainstream media, all the while they’re figuring it’s not going to happen because the GOP will stop any tax hikes?

Well, let’s give them their wish. Mitch McConnell should call up Joe Biden and say he’s got a deal on raising the corporate tax rate as long as it’s only on the Fortune 500. Leave the small and moderate-sized businesses that are currently being squeezed by these monopolistic behemoths out of it. Let the woke, virtue-signaling among us see what it’s really like to live under unfettered, Democrat rule.

We owe these corporations nothing. Some CEO making tens of millions a year doesn’t make my life better, and there’s no reason for the GOP to keep reflexively defending their interests. I realize the more libertarian side of the Republican Party will throw a fit over me saying that, but I really don’t care. I’m all for a free market. A crony-capitalist, oligarchy is not a free market. It’s time to recognize that. The free ride needs to be over and these woke companies need to be made to live by the consequences of their positions and actions. Any Republican leader who isn’t down for that should go ahead and resign.
