Action movie diehards have been salivating over the prospect of a Tom Hardy/Gareth Evans team-up since Havoc was first announced way back in 2021. It’s been a long, mysterious wait — no one really seems willing to talk about why this sat on the shelf for nearly 4 years — but now that it’s out in the universe, we can breathe a sigh of relief. The plot is nothing you haven’t seen before (morally ambiguous cops mingle with corrupt local government officials amidst rival gang violence), but as we were promised, there are a handful of stand-out setpieces that we’ll be rewarching for years and years to come. Turns out that Hardy’s ultra-intense energy and physically propulsive presence does indeed pair perfectly with the visual, visceral inventiveness of Evans (The Raid: Redemption). A win/win!
