Friends From College Season 3: Netflix Renewal Status and Release Date

Comedy titles on Netflix have been very hit and miss. One such comedy that has fallen into the miss category is Friends From College. Surprisingly after a dismal first season Friends From College returned for a second outing. But will the titular friends be returning for a third season? Friends From College is a Netflix Original comedy series created by Francesco Delbanco and Nicholas Stoller. Starring the likes of Keegan-Michael Kay and Cobie Smoulders you’d have thought it would be a recipe for success. Sadly the first season panned hard and shredded by critics and subscribers alike. This didn’t deter from Netflix renewing the show for a second season. Netflix would have hoped for a better performance from season 2 but again the second season failed to impress.

Twenty years after graduation, a tight-knit group of college friends reconnects and discovers that love hasn’t gotten easier with age.

Sadly another Original has bitten the dust after another cancelation from Netflix. Original comedy Friends From College has bitten the bullet after only 2 seasons on the streaming giant. This comes after another bout of cancellations when it was announced that Marvel’s The Punisher and Jessica Jones have also been canceled.

Friends From College ran for a total of 2 seasons and 16 episodes. Co-creator Nicholas Stoller broke the news on Twitter.

Why were Friends From College canceled?

While Netflix released a statement regarding the cancelation an official reason is yet to be given. Considering the show has been poorly received by critics and subscribers, viewing figures for the second season may have been dramatically lower than the first.

Naturally, the show did have plenty of fans but clearly not enough for Netflix to warrant a third season. There have been many comedy titles that have been canceled by Netflix.
