Former Australian Test cricketer Michael Slater has been arrested in Sydney over an alleged domestic violence incident.

New South Wales Police confirmed officers commenced their investigation yesterday, after they became aware of an alleged incident that occurred on the October 12.

Detectives attended a home at Manly around 9:00am today and arrested 51-year-old Slater.

He’s been taken to Manly Police Station, but has not been charged with any offences yet.

Before retiring in 2001, Slater played in 74 Test matches and 42 One Day Internationals for Australia.

Since ending on his playing career, Slater had been a high-profile television commentator both in Australia and overseas.

However, earlier this month Channel 7 did not renew his contract, citing financial pressures.

In May, Slater attacked Prime Minister Scott Morrison in a series of social media posts that made headlines.

Slater took to Twitter to claim the PM had “blood on his hands”, and complained the Commonwealth should be doing more to help Australians stranded in COVID-ravaged India.
