Former ‘Republican’ Rep. Endorsing Kamala Harris is a Lifelong Democrat
Last Updated on August 20, 2024
Former United States Representative Barbara Comstock, who represented northern Virginia’s 10th District in Congress from 2015 to 2019, is making headlines as a “Republican” endorser of Kamala Harris, but in reality, Comstock has lifelong ties to the Democrat Party and interned for Ted Kennedy before briefly winning office as a Republican, and then jumping back to the other side of the aisle. Comstock has slammed Trump as a ‘misogynist’ but it’s unclear what she thinks about her former boss, Ted Kennedy, leaving a young woman to drown after a drunk driving accident.
Despite current media portrayals, Barbara Comstock has been mixed up with the Never Trump crowd since the 2016 election cycle. As I reported at PoliticsElections.com in 2018, one of Comstock’s most lucrative political donors also funded Fusion GPS and the phony Russian dossier that the global deep state used to try to rig the 2016 Presidential Election.
In 2021, just days before Trump was slated to leave office, Comstock publicly backed his impeachment, posting on X (then Twitter) about how she was “so proud of [Rep. Liz Cheney] and her support for impeachment.”
And her love affair with Cheney didn’t end there.
Earlier this year, Comstock mocked Republican voters and Trump supporters while again throwing her support behind disgraced ex-Republican Rep. Liz Cheney.
“To them, a ‘RINO’ is someone who doesn’t worship the Orange Cheeto God,” Comstock told attendees of the National Press Foundation’s Women in Politics Journalism Fellowship this April. “To me, [former Rep] Liz Cheney and I, we’re much more Republican than these guys are.”
Comstock is one of at least two ex-“Republican” members of Congress from Virginia to come out in support of Harris – the other being disgraced ex-Rep. Denver Riggleman, who was voted out of Congress by the grassroots of his own party at a 2018 convention.
After his loss, Riggleman, who once spoke about his love of horse-fisting on a radio show, became a frequent anti-Trump guest on CNN and other corporate media networks and even solicited his services to Nancy Pelosi’s J6 Committee, later profiting off of the experience by publishing a book on it.
