Buildings 16 and 17 of the dormitories in Student City in Albania are now with modern conditions from student rooms, reading rooms, free internet, etc. Their reconstruction also includes rehabilitation with energy efficiency.

The recently inaugurated buildings are equipped from sleeping rooms with showers and separate toilets, reading rooms, cooking and dining spaces on each floor, free internet, security system, and laundry.

Present at the inauguration ceremony, the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama thanked the delegation of the European Union and the German Development Bank KfW.

Rama said that Student City is a city that should serve the future and should offer optimal conditions, the same as the best conditions found in EU countries.

The project “Energy Efficiency Rehabilitation of Student Dormitories of Public Universities in Albania”, financed by Germany and the EU, through KfW along with Albania, includes the renovation with energy efficiency of 19 student dormitories of the Student City I campus in Tirana.

In total, more than 2,600 Albanian students will benefit from the measures, which significantly improve living and studying conditions, bringing them closer to the high standards implemented in other European countries.

A minimum of 70% of the capacity of the renovated dormitories will be filled by low-income students, thus promoting social infrastructure for underprivileged students. (February 7)
