CNN: Trump and Macron agree that Russia should be invited to next year’s G7 conference, senior admin official says

President Donald Trump on Tuesday expressed his support for reinstating Russia into the G7, and French President Emmanuel Macron has agreed with the President that Russia should be invited to the G7 conference in 2020, according to a senior administration official.

“I think it’s much more appropriate to have Russia in” the group, he said during a meeting in the Oval Office with the Romanian President just days before the group of leading industrialized nations convenes for its annual summit in France.

“If somebody would make that motion, I would certainly be disposed to think about it very favorably,” he added.

White House tries to walk back Donald Trump’s call for Russia to get back into the G7 as Britain, France and Germany all say Putin’s invasion of Crimea still needs to be punished (Daily Mail).
