Democrats are Desperately Trying to Sell Kamala Harris as a Good VP and Failing Miserably
I don’t know if I’ve run into anyone in my personal life who actually likes Kamala Harris. In fact, the only defense I’ve seen of her comes from Democrat Party politicians.

Take, for instance, California Governor Gavin Newsom who recently joined the chorus of officials singing Harris’s praises. Newsom was asked by CNN’s Dana Bash if he thought Harris was Biden’s best choice for VP, a choice he fully backs.
“Of course she is,” Newsom said. “Biden-Harris administration, master class in terms of performance — bipartisan deals on infrastructure, bipartisan deals on guns and debt ceiling, on the CHIPS and Science Act.”
“I mean, by definition. If I think this administration in the last two and a half years has been one of the most outstanding administrations in the last few decades, and she’s a member of that administration, she gets to lay and claim credit to a lot of that success. The answer is absolutely,” he added.

This seems like a load of talking points given to Newsom by the DNC to course-correct an issue laid down by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who was asked whether or not she thought Harris was the right woman for the job and refused to say, instead dancing around the issue by lightly commenting on the role of the vice-president itself.

But Newsom’s words are going to be like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound. Harris has been nothing but awkward and incompetent throughout her entire time in the role of VP. Calls have come from every corner of American society to get rid of her, including in the media from rags like the Washington Post and New York Magazine.
And then there are the poll numbers.
As previously reported by RedState, Harris hit an approval rating of just 39 percent with 54 percent of respondents saying they held an unfavorable opinion of her.
The Democrats have to start considering how much damage control is too much. There comes a point where trying to fix something that broken just makes it look unreliable and worth replacing, and if the DNC was being honest with itself, it’s likely that Harris is in that situation.
Harris has failed at every major task she’s been assigned and the Democrats have little to nothing to point to. Despite Newsom’s attempt at making it seem like Harris has a share in things like the debt ceiling and gun legislation, not everyone is going to buy the idea that the woman who cackles when asked the tough questions and spews word salad the rest of the time is capable of arranging anything legislatively.

It’s likely that her approval numbers will go up as we drift closer to election day by virtue of Democrat Party members taking their corners, and the DNC brass are likely counting on this, but the damage is being done to the people’s ability to take the Biden administration seriously in the meantime, and that can cause people to drift elsewhere to seek good leadership. Democrats can mostly be trusted to come back but Independents might find a better way come time to pull the lever.
It would be better for them if they got rid of Harris now and began building someone else up…but like Napoleon said, “Never interrupt your enemy while they’re making a mistake.”
