The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, the BMW X6 M and the MINI John Cooper Works Clubman have been crowned winners in their respective categories of the 2020 MECOTY Awards. The nominated models were judged by a jury consisting of top automotive media across the region. They tested all nominated cars thoroughly to be shortlisted – with only one model per category taking away an award.

Best mid-size executive coupe: The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe.

The British premium car manufacturer MINI presents what is by some measure the most powerful model ever approved for public road use in the brand’s sixty year history. The MINI John Cooper Works Clubman is fitted with a 4-cylinder turbo engine outputting 306 hp, displaying outstanding performance in the compact premium segment. Turning in an acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, it is 1.4 seconds faster than its previous model. The ALL4 all-wheel drive system plays a central role in optimising the cars’ traction, agility and driving stability; it is part of the standard equipment and was comprehensively redeveloped. The braking system, chassis technology, suspension and dampening systems and electromechanical steering have all been undergone further developments and precisely oriented towards the extremely agile character of the new top sports model.
