In their second release of the year, director Steven Soderbergh and David Koepp reunited with Black Bag, an espionage film starring Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett. It follows MI6 agent George Woodhouse (Fassbender), tasked to investigate a list of five potential traitors within their organization, one of whom is his wife and fellow MI6 operative Kathryn (Blanchett). From there, George faces the ultimate test: loyalty to his country or to his marriage. Fassbender and Blanchett are joined by an excellent ensemble cast that includes Pierce Brosnan, Marisa Abela (Industry), and Tom Burke (Furiosa). Above all, though, Black Bag is a sleek and sexy, well-directed spy thriller that’ll have you in and out in 90 minutes — who could ask for anything more than that?
