Australia’s snowboard cross star Josie Baff has claimed silver in the World Cup event held in Beidahu, China.

It was Baff’s 11th World Cup podium finish of her career, with the result placing her third on this season’s standings.

She was fifth in Saturday’s opening event at the Chinese winter resort, before finishing runner-up to Great Britain’s Charlotte Bankes in Sunday’s ‘big final’.

Baff’s performance backed up her silver in the previous World Cup round in Cervinia, Italy in December.

“It’s definitely nice after yesterday (Saturday),” Baff said.

“I had some fire in my belly. It was a good result, but I wanted more.

“Two seconds in a row now, I really want to win, I hope I can get that soon, but I was really happy to share the podium with the girls.”

Baff’s encouraging results come as she continues preparations for next February’s Olympic Winter Games to be staged in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

Her fellow Australians Amber Essex and Mia Clift were seventh and 10th respectively.

Adam Lambert was the highest-placed Australian in the men’s event, finishing in 10th position.
