In a vacant lot, the corpse of a person was found. The body was abandoned on the crossroads of San Onofre and Nardo streets in La Huizachera neighborhood (in the municipality of El Salto, Jalisco).

The assassins left a narcomanta (narcobanner) with a threatening message:

“THIS HAPPENED TO ME FOR SUPPORTING EL CHOLO”.

The victim had his hands tied and was lying face down. He had several blood stains on his skull. On top of him the sicarios left the banner.

Carlos Enrique Sanchez Martinez AKA El Cholo, the former leader of the Nueva Plaza Cartel, was killed last week after he was captured by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The capture was first made public through a video interrogation that was released on social media and republished by Borderland Beat.

In the video, El Cholo said that he was working with Omar Garcia Harfuch, the head of the Mexico City Police, to combat the CJNG.

“And [Garcia Harfuch] gave me his full suport. But he told me that he needed something relevant in return. So that I could operate with his support and his people among this city. And so I kicked everything off. All the crimes that took place in Tonalá, Tlaquepaque, and Tlajomulco I am personally responsible for,” El Cholo said in the video.

Hours later, the CJNG abandoned his body on a bench of a public park near Guadalajara. His assassins covered his corpse in plastic and stabbed a written message across his body.

“Thank you to everyone who sent me to my death”, the message read.
