Angry Nationals voters not switching sides

Australia

Nationals voters are feeling angry and betrayed but not enough to dump former leader Barnaby Joyce from his NSW seat, new research has found.

The Voter Choice survey asked 878 voters, 140 of whom were in Mr Joyce’s electorate of New England, about attitudes to the junior coalition partner after a tumultuous year for the party.

“People are clearly distraught, describing their feelings towards the party as being appalled and horrified, and referring to parents turning in their graves,” project director Raphaella Kathryn Crosby said.
