Alaska’s Mary Peltola Signs on With Far-Left MoveOn.org: Watch What Your Local Pols Are Up To!

Breaking News Politics USA World

In every presidential election year, that race for the top spot tends to suck all the oxygen out of the media room. This is, to some extent, understandable. The presidency is the only office that we all vote for (or against) – all of us, all American voters have an interest in this race.

But that doesn’t mean we should neglect those down-ticket races. Case in point: Here in Alaska, our own at-large Congress member, the supposedly moderate Mary Peltola, has asked for, and received, the endorsement of the far-left group MoveOn.org.

Rep. Mary Peltola has asked MoveOn Political Action, an organization funded by globalist billionaire George Soros, for an endorsement.

In her application to the group asking for its endorsement, Peltola told the organization:

“I have demonstrated a strong track record in advancing policies that align with MoveOn’s mission, including advocating for Alaska Native rights, affordable health care, workers’ rights, and reproductive rights. My work in supporting Indigenous communities and pushing for sustainable economic development showcases my dedication to inclusive and equitable solutions. My pragmatic approach, combined with my ability to build bipartisan support, positions me as a powerful advocate for transformative change,” she wrote, managing to get leftist phrases strung together.

On Monday, she received her answer – the leftists at MoveOn are now helping finance her campaign, where she is currently running neck-and-neck with Republican Nick Begich III.

MoveOn.org said it is proud to endorse Peltola in her quest to return to Congress this November. The money will soon flow into her campaign.

“The state once had a strong, respected presence in Washington, D.C., but today, political gridlock and outmigration are threatening Alaska’s unique way of life,” MoveOn wrote in its endorsement. By once, they may not mean in the past two years but the 49 prior years during Rep. Don Young’s term in office, but the group’s meaning is unclear.

This is why we must watch every race, and vote accordingly.

This move by Peltola may well cement her support with some liberals in Anchorage, Juneau, and Fairbanks, but it won’t go over nearly as well here in the red Mat-Su or some of the other red areas in this vast state. And that statement from MoveOn.org is interesting; they claim that gridlock and outmigration are threatening Alaska’s way of life, but say nothing about the Harris/Biden administration’s shutting down of vast areas of the North Slope to oil and gas extraction, which would not only help bring down the everyday cost of gasoline, diesel, and home heating oil, but would also provide a lot of good-paying jobs. Inflation and energy costs are a greater threat to the Alaskan way of life than “gridlock.”

Frankly, some of us like gridlock. If the government can’t do anything, they can’t hurt us.

Nick Begich was quick to reply:

“Mary Peltola continues to try to pull the wool over Alaskans’ eyes, but it’s clear to see that she is a member of the hard left, said Nick Begich, the Republican candidate who opposes her. “Mary Peltola sought and received the endorsement of an organization that wants to defund police and leave our southern border wide open. This is radical. This is extreme. This is not what we expect from an Alaska representative. It’s time for Alaska to move on from Mary Peltola.”

Watch your local races. Every House seat is up, as they are every two years. Look at your representative, and look beyond all of their blather, all of their crafted campaign statements; look at what they do, what they voted for, and who is supporting their campaign.

MoveOn.org’s agenda isn’t good for Alaska. It isn’t good for America. And any politician who takes their money should be voted out of office.
