The mass exodus at the Adelaide Crows is continuing, with the club announcing it will axe two senior staff following the completion of its external review.

Head of football Brett Burton will depart along with senior assistant coach Scott Camporeale.

The Crows have also committed to creating a new position, Head of Leadership and Culture.

The announcement comes on a day when fan-favourite Eddie Betts is expected to be traded to Carlton, and follows other high-profile departures including coach Don Pyke.

The Crows launched the six-week review after failing to make the finals for the second year in a row, but are yet to announce a replacement for Pyke.

Crows chairman Rob Chapman paid tribute to Burton and Camporeale, but said the club now has a “great opportunity” to make new appointments to generate future success.

“We have made some hard decisions and are transitioning into a new era, and rejuvenating what is already a talented playing list so we can hopefully achieve the ultimate success,” he said.

“I would like to acknowledge the efforts of both Scott and Brett, who are quality people with a great deal to offer the AFL if they choose to continue in the industry.

“Current circumstances require us to make change to create the clear air required to give the new senior coach the best chance of success, and we owe it to our members and supporters to ensure the club is strong and successful.”

More to come.
