‘Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed’s Charlie Hall And Kiarra Hamagami Goldberg Reveal If They Ship A Rudy And Geri Romance

With all the custody chaos, criminal investigations, and murder in Apple TV‘s dark comedic thriller Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, it’s hard for characters to find time for romance. But that hasn’t stopped fans — or cast members, for that matter — from rooting for certain couples on the show.

Though their first date was a bust, it’s clear Paula (Tatiana Maslany) and Steve (Raymond Lee) have some serious potential if they can get their timing right. And speaking of timing, will we ever see Maximum Pleasure‘s dynamic workplace duo, Rudy (Charlie Hall) and Geri (Kiarra Hamagami Goldberg), become more than close colleagues and friends?

Ever since Paula’s co-workers were introduced in Maximum Pleasure‘s premiere, their chemistry has been off the charts. Their banter is effortless, their humor complements each other, and they’re not afraid to poke fun at one another or get vulnerable when the moment calls for it. They make excellent co-investigators and literal partners in crime, and their friendship offers a solid foundation for building a romantic relationship.

From car heart-to-hearts to on-the-ground fieldwork and after-hours research, the two grow closer and inspire each other to be better, bolder, and braver as the series progresses. Despite distance in Episodes 7 and 8, the two work through their issues, and Rudy cares enough to urge Geri to put her friendship with Paula before her article. After he gives a “shockingly kind” speech in Episode 9 that changes Ger-Ber’s mind, the two share a hug with definite vibes. So do the Maximum Pleasure stars think their characters should risk ruining the friendship to explore deeper feelings?

“It’s a good question. What I sort of ship the most about Rudy and Geri is the oscillation of not knowing. I thought that was really fun to play, because they are friends, but at the same time, you can feel that they would potentially work as more than friends,” Hall told DECIDER over Zoom. “You [also] understand maybe they actually wouldn’t work, because they’re so similar in certain ways, and so different in others. So the thing that I love the most is the not knowing.”

Hall was a bit hesitant to wholeheartedly ship the friends, so Goldberg initially echoed his uncertainty, laying out the major hurdle the two face. “High risk, high reward. You’re friends, so do you change that dynamic that works so well to maybe have something more there? Or is that where the magic of it lives?”

Despite the high risk, however, Goldberg is rooting for the high reward. (Same!)

“I ship it, I think,” she concluded, inspiring Hall to change his answer. “Yeah, I ship it, too!” he declared. In response to his change of heart, an excited Goldberg replied, “We got him!”

With one episode left in Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed Season 1, there’s still time for Rudy or Geri to make a move. And if the two understandably can’t figure it out before the end credits roll, fingers crossed that Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed returns for Season 2.

With lots more story to tell, serious star power in front of and behind the camera, an impressive 93% Rotten Tomatoes rating, and Stephen King’s support, we can’t imagine Apple TV wanting to prematurely say goodbye to such a successful series or its ships!
