‘Midsommar’
Midsommar might not come to mind when deciding what to watch over the July 4th weekend, but trust me, it’s the perfect summer film. Ari Aster’s second directorial effort is a fable about Dani (Florence Pugh) who travels to Sweden for some kind of “festival” with her boyfriend Christian (Jack Reynor) and his friends after the tragic loss of her family. Without spoiling anything, Sweden is not on my travel bucket list! The film is not only responsible for Pugh’s rise to fame, but features some of the creepiest horror scenes you’ll ever see. The ending is quite extreme, but will have you thinking, “Good for her!” The film is currently streaming on HBO Max!
