Where Was ‘Every Year After’ Filmed? Discover The Filming Locations of Prime Video’s New Show ‘Every Year After’

If you’re looking to spend the summer at a gorgeous Lake house, but don’t actually have access to one, living vicariously through the characters of Prime Video‘s new romance show Every Year After, is the next best thing.

It’s the summer of adaptations. The series, based on Carley Fortune‘s best selling novel Every Summer After, follows the romantic entanglement of two childhood friends who get a second chance at their epic love story. Starring Saltburn‘s Sadie Soverall and Summer of 69‘s Matt Cornett as main characters Percy Fraser and Sam Florek, the story is told over multiple timelines. After a heartbreaking betrayal during their teen years, the characters reunite 10 years later, and are forced to confront their falling out and any lingering feelings they may have.

The characters spend majority of their time at the lake house. In a recent interview with Decider, Soverall talked about what it was like to be on the water. “I think for me, anything swimming I was really excited to do. I mean, I think in the actual doing of it, it was an interesting challenge because we were at Minaty Bay. It was a beautiful, glacier fed lake. So it was cold. But I’m really proud of us. Every Year After was filmed in multiple Canadian locations, but majority of scenes were filmed in British Columbia. The novel itself takes place in a rural lakeside town in Barry’s Bay, Ontario, where author Carley Fortune grew up. Fortune told Decider that it was important to her that the show was authentically Canadian. “The thing I felt most strongly about was the setting and making sure the book was set in Canada.”

While the show was not actually filmed in Barry’s Bay, production was able to recreate the cottage country setting on Bowen Island. Many local establishments, according to Bowen Island Tourism was used in the filming for the series. Establishments include, Union Steamship Marina Resort, Doc Morgan’s Pub and Restaurant, Tippy’s Cookhouse and the Lagoon Causeway. Bowen Island is known for being a popular filming location for shows like Riverdale and Supernatural, so it is no surprise it was used to recreate the magic of Barry’s Bay.

IMDB also listed other filming locations as Vancouver and North Vancouver with studio shoots taking place at North Shore Studios. As well as Minaty Bay, which was used primarily for outdoor swimming scenes.

So there you have it. Despite the filming location not being the exact same as the book, it is clear production made the effort to be as authentic as they could be. Perhaps a trip to British Columbia may be in a lot of fans’ futures.
