‘The Social Reckoning’ Trailer Features An Unrecognizable Jeremy Strong As Mark Zuckerberg: “He’s Doing A Freaky Little Voice”

Jeremy Strong is no stranger to turning heads.

Sony just released the first official trailer for The Social Reckoning, Aaron Sorkin‘s long-awaited sequel to the 2010 film The Social Network. The film is a continuation of Facebook’s role in society, and follows famous whistleblower Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison) exposing 2021’s The Facebook Files. The rest of the film’s cast is stacked including: Jeremy Allen White, Wunmi Mosaku, and Betty Gilpin.

Reuniting with his Molly’s Game director, Strong is taking over the role of infamous Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, from Jesse Eisenberg. Eisenberg publicly stated he turned down the opportunity to reprise his role because, “When you play a character, you feel, at some point, you’ve grown into something else.”

In the film’s official teaser trailer, the glimpses of Strong as Zuckerberg are uncanny, with many users on social media strongly reacting to the actor’s performance.

One fan wrote on X “JEREMY STRONG DOING A FREAKY LITTLE ZUCK VOICE F*CK YESSSS.”

Another user commented, “Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg somehow feels even more intimidating than the original.”

However, the first trailer is dividing fans of the original film, with many people expressing their concerns over the quality and criticizing Sorkin’s direction.

One X user expressed his concern after the trailer was released, “This is probably going to be a trainwreck but Jeremy Strong’s Zuckerberg voice is scary good holy sh*t.”

Strong’s performance has long been anticipated. The Succession star is infamous for his method preparation, and it seems his approach has paid off, even if fans are skeptical about the rest of the film.

The Social Reckoning will be released in theaters on October 9.
