‘The Vampire Lestat’
The third season of AMC’s Interview With the Vampire has been renamed The Vampire Lestat in honor of the Anne Rice book it’s based on. While the first two seasons of Rolin Jones’s sumptuous adaptation of The Vampire Chronicles dealt with Louis’s (Jacob Anderson) point of view, this time around, Lestat (Sam Reid) is spilling his truth. Set in the aftermath of Daniel Molloy’s (Eric Bogosian) explosive book about Louis, Lestat, and Claudia (Delainey Hayles), Lestat is attempting to tell his side of the story by being a vampire rock star singing his truth. What we soon learn is that Lestat’s view of himself is as riotous, hilarious, and downright baroque as his whole persona. The Vampire Lestat is an absolute thrill ride — although, I do quibble that his middle-aged Canadian bandmates are a little too dorky for a rock god like Lestat.
