‘Office Romance’

What to Watch

Even though I wasn’t crazy about the “romance” part of Netflix’s new romantic comedy, Office Romance, starring Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein, I was absolutely here for the comedy. That’s thanks in large part to a stellar supporting cast who make tiny roles shines, from Tony Hale as a long-suffering HR manager dealing with some very horny employees, to Betty Gilpin as a large-and-in-charge (literally) pregnant manager who refuses to take a day off. Director Ol Parker deserves credit for finding endless zany comedic moments, as does Goldstein and his co-writer Joe Kelly for some razor-sharp one liners. I didn’t complete buy into the romance—between a high-powered CEO (Lopez) and her closed-off British lawyer (Goldstein)—but the many laugh-out-loud moments still make this film a worthy watch.
