‘Here Comes the Bride’
Some stand-up specials make you chuckle, others leave you straight-faced, and then, if you’re lucky, one comes along and makes you burst into tears from pure laughter. Lucky for me, I stumbled into Ashley Hesseltine’s hilarious special, Here Comes the Bride, through Instagram and TikTok. Shockingly relatable and hardcore hilarious, the Girls Gotta Eat podcast host gets big laughs as she discusses the realities of womanhood, having a husband who is not your best friend — newsflash ladies, he’s never your BFF and he’s not supposed to be — and the struggles of dating in your twenties and thirties. Hesseltine keeps the energy high from the start and makes you wonder when her next special is coming out and which streaming service is going to pay to snatch her up first.
