‘Hacks’ Season 1, Episode 1
To celebrate the series finale of Hacks, I’m pulling a Hilary Duff as “I go back… back to the beginning” to rewatch the pilot of this beloved HBO comedy. Debuting in 2021 on HBO, the Jean Smart/Hannah Einbinder-led comedy is a first-ballot comedy Hall of Famer. Series creators Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky crafted an incisive series that effortlessly blended trenchant humor with genuine moments of well-earned sentimentality. The brilliance of Hacks was evident from day one as the pilot sets the table for five seasons of comedic insanity. Thanks for the memories, old friend. We’ll miss you.
