Breaking: Mitch Moses ruled out of State of Origin Game I for Blues

The NSW Blues have confirmed five-eighth Mitchell Moses will miss Wednesday night’s State of Origin opener due to a hamstring injury.

Moses was sent for a scan after sustaining the injury during Blues training on the Central Coast on Monday.

“NSW Blues five-eighth Mitchell Moses has today been ruled out of Game One of the State of Origin Series,” the NSW Rugby League said in a statement. 

“Scans this morning revealed a minor hamstring strain.”

Canberra Raiders five-eighth Ethan Strange will come in as the starting five-eighth for the Blues in Wednesday’s opener, making his State of Origin debut.

Moses has played six Origins for the Blues, debuting in Game III of the 2021 series. 

The Parramatta star shone for the Blues in the series opener last year, helping NSW to an 18-6 win over the Maroons at Lang Park in Brisbane.

Injury took Moses out of the following two matches, which Queensland won both of to regain the shield.
