Honoring the Legacy of a GW Global Finance Scholar

Newswise — The George Washington University recently announced a newly endowed professorship honoring the late Korean-born economist and global finance expert Yoon Shik Park, a longtime faculty member who helped shape generations of leaders in both the United States and South Korea.
The professorship was established through a gift from his wife, Heawon Kang Park and will support faculty in international business and finance. Professor Park served as a senior economist at the World Bank and held advisory and board roles with major Korean institutions, including Samsung and the Korean Economic Institute for America. He was widely recognized for his expertise in international finance and for serving as a mentor to students who went on to leadership roles across global financial institutions, including in Korea.
Dean of the George Washington University Business School, Sevin Yeltekin, expressed the school’s profound gratitude, “Heawon Park’s generous and visionary gift ensures that Yoon Shik Park’s lifelong commitment to teaching and international business scholarship will endure. This endowed professorship honors his legacy while providing support that enables GWSB faculty to thrive, just as he did throughout his distinguished career.”
If you would like to schedule an interview with Dean Yeltekin to learn more about Professor Park’s legacy, his contributions to global finance, and the significance of this gift, please contact Senior Media Relations Specialist Claire Sabin (claire.sabin@gwu.edu).
