‘East of Wall’

East of Wall doesn’t need an Oscar nomination to be worth your time. This great, little underrated film—one of Decider’s favorite films of 2025—is now streaming on Netflix, which means it’s easier than every to catch up on one of last year’s most-overlooked gem. This unconventional western blends documentary and fiction. Writer/director Kate Beecroft lived with Tabatha and her daughter Porshia Zimiga—who star as themselves in the film—on their horse ranch in South Dakota for three years. From there, Beecroft wrote a script based on their lives, about a mother grieving the death of her husband while struggling to make ends meet. It’s an refreshingly intimate and authentic portrayal of the modern American West.
