‘High School Musical’

This week marked 20 years since Kenny Ortega’s beloved DCOM, High School Musical, dropped on Disney Channel. The movie musical follows basketball star Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and bookworm Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) as they expand their horizons beyond the status quo by auditioning for their … well … high school musical. But unearthing their hidden talents comes with challenges of their own: what will the rest of the school think? What will Troy’s dad, the basketball coach, think? For catchy tunes, an important message, and the desire to feel like you’re in kindergarten again (IYKYK), ring in this milestone by giving High School Musical a rewatch.
