‘IT: Welcome to Derry’
HBO’s IT: Welcome to Derry is a twisted new addition to the larger Stephen King cinematic universe. Simultaneously a prequel series to Andy Muschietti’s 2017 and 2019 IT films and an origin story for The Shining’s Dick Hallorann (Chris Chalk), IT: Welcome to Derry follows what went down in the creepy Maine town 27 years before the Loser’s Club met Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård). Military pilot Leroy Hanlon (Jovan Adepo) has been stationed in Derry ostensibly to help firm up Cold War era defenses. In fact, he’s been drawn into a secret mission that involves the evil entity known as “It.” While this goes on, Pennywise has awakened and is feeding on a new generation of outcast kids. IT: Welcome to Derry is creepy, scary, and gory fun.
