We Will not be Cast Out
Our actions (or lack thereof) reflect directly on Jesus, He takes it personally
By Greg Holt
“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” John 6:37
(ICB) I love this statement by Jesus, when we come to Him, we are effectively His – forever. There is no maybe, or it depends on what you have done and/or how much you have done etc. We belong to Him, we are adopted into the family of God, permanently.
Jesus also spoke of not losing rewards. In Matthew 10 Jesus speaks of giving a cup of cold water to one of His, and this act will be remembered, one will not lose their reward.
“42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.” Matthew 10:42
The idea here is that whatever we do to benefit another believer will not be forgotten, even the smallest of acts will be remembered and we will be rewarded for our actions. God remembers what we do and it all matters to Him.
“40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:40
Here again, our actions (or lack thereof) reflect directly on Jesus, He takes it personally – whatever we do or do not do.
Paul mentions this as well:
“10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10
I mentioned in, Hope for the Weary Soul, that we are not to become weary in well doing, this ties in neatly with that, we are commanded to help others yes – but we are plainly told that we will be rewarded for doing so as well.
Not losing our reward and not being cast out etc. also brings up the salvation question – as in can we lose our salvation? No, we cannot.
Many will say (have said), “but what about those that walk away from the faith?”
Two possible answers here. If these return to God at some point in the future, then they are obviously prodigals (as I was) and their salvation was not and is not in question. Then there are those that walk away from the faith for whatever reason, and they never return. If this happens, then the person in question was never “saved” to begin with.
On this Father’s Day weekend, let us rejoice in the Father we have in Heaven that always rejoices in us – His children.
Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there – and to our Father in Heaven. Thank you Lord for all You do for us.
